Southern California Ski Resort Webcams: Check Conditions Before You Go

Before I hit the slopes in SoCal, I like to check out the conditions via live webcams from the mountain resort. Here, I’ve gathered a list of webcam links for the ski resorts in Southern California.

Thousands of California Campgrounds May Close

Leaked government records indicate nearly 4,000 campsites in California’s national forests could be forced to close this summer because of cuts to federal staffing and stalled funding orchestrated by Elon Musk and Donald Trump and carried out under the banner of the new Department of Government Efficiency.

Tahoe’s Mount Rose Backcountry Skiing Features in Documentary Series

Mount Rose Highway, which links Reno to Lake Tahoe, offers some of the most accessible backcountry skiing in the lower 48. The latest episode of the documentary series, Peaks and Passages, offers a look at this snowy backcountry wonderland.

A third eaglet has hatched in the nest that you can observe via the live Big Bear Eagle Cam. At last glance, it looks like there is currently a pile of delicious fish ready for the wee birdies.

In other Trump administration news, DOGE has instituted substantial cuts to the already short-staffed National Park Service, with over 1,700 parks’ employees laid off or taking buyouts. As the cuts take place, the park service is being hush, hush about the fact that 2024 was a record year for park visitation. Among the pushback, SoCal locals gathered to protest layoffs at Joshua Tree National Park.

Conservationists are also reportedly worried that Trump’s Interior Secretary Doug Burgum may be considering opening two SoCal National Monuments up to mining.

IKON skiing/snowboarding passes for 2025/26 will go on sale in five days and the prices are now available on the website.

Coming soon after the fatal fall of a SoCal climber at Red Rocks Canyon in Nevada, a hiker had to be rescued after taking a fall in the area.
