You probably don’t need a reminder, but it’s hot outside. Historically hot. Hiker dies after fall at Torrey Pines in La Jolla

A 42-year-old man, Jose Luis Santoyo of San Diego, lost his footing while hiking to Black’s Beach near Torry Pines Gliderport on Tuesday. He fell about 10 feet, and paramedics declared him dead at the scene, according to news reports. I’ve heard of a couple of paraglider deaths on the cliffs, but this is the first time I’ve heard of a hiking fatality.
